The kitchen is the heart of your home — and often the room that collects the most grime. A regular deep clean keeps your cooking space hygienic and pleasant. Use this room-by-room checklist to make sure nothing gets missed.
Appliances
Start with the big items. Pull the refrigerator away from the wall and vacuum the coils. Empty the fridge completely, toss expired items, and wipe every shelf and drawer with warm soapy water. Run a cleaning cycle on your oven (or use a baking soda paste for manual cleaning). Descale the coffee maker with a vinegar-water mixture. Wipe down the exterior of every appliance, including the microwave interior.
Cabinets and Pantry
Empty each cabinet one at a time. Wipe the shelves, check expiration dates, and reorganize as you go. Pay special attention to the area above the stove — cooking grease accumulates there quickly. Use a degreaser or warm soapy water on cabinet fronts and handles.
Countertops and Backsplash
Clear everything off the counters. Clean the surface thoroughly, then tackle the backsplash tile and grout. A toothbrush dipped in baking soda paste works wonders on discolored grout lines. Move small appliances and clean underneath them.
Sink and Disposal
Scrub the sink basin with baking soda, then sanitize with diluted vinegar. Clean the faucet and handles, paying attention to the base where grime builds up. Freshen the garbage disposal by grinding ice cubes and lemon peels.
Floors and Baseboards
Sweep or vacuum first, then mop with a floor-appropriate cleaner. Don’t forget baseboards — they collect dust and kitchen grease. Pull out the trash can and recycling bin to clean the floor underneath.
A thorough kitchen deep clean takes two to three hours, but the result is worth every minute. Schedule one quarterly, or let Heart & Home handle it for you.
